About the Author
Dennis Pagen has been writing about sport aviation--hang gliding, paragliding and ultralights--since 1975. He has written twelve books and over 400 articles in trade magazines, all related to flying for fun. There doesn't seem to be an end to this activity, for as sports continue to evolve, new techniques and experiences demand definition.

The author was raised in Port Huron, Michigan and educated at Michigan State University where he majored in physics and electrical engineering. Upon graduation, he decided to see more of the world and traveled through Europe and Asia for three years.

When he returned to the U.S. in 1973 he witnessed personal flight for the very first time. This was hang gliding and he fell in love with the sport. After settling in Pennsylvania and buying a glider, he learned to soar and decided to devote himself to mankind's age-old dream of free flight.

Dennis researched and wrote his first book, Flying Conditions, in 1975. This same year he got involved with the United States Hang Gliding Association Board of Directors and has served on this board ever since. During his tenure Dennis wrote the USHGA Instructor's Manual and helped develop many of the training and rating programs.

In the late seventies, Dennis expanded his interest to ultralights. He has been involved with the USUA and its competition committee and has run many of their contests.

In 1989, he chose to take up the lightest and newest aviation sport, paragliding. This booming sport was a great addition to his flying experience. Dennis thrives for any new aerial experience today. His further activity in flying consists of designing light aircraft, instructing and running meets as well as competing himself.

The best intro and reference on paragliding

I have read all the books available here on Amazon on that were published in the last ten years (and a few older ones) and this is clearly the best. If I could own only one book this is the one. It clearly explains the nuts and bolts of paragliding with excellent text and illustrations. All the details are covered. These are typically glossed over by most of the other authors. A good example of this is the explanation on how to attach the risers to the harness for a reverse launch. I have never seen a clearer explanation.

The only book you need on paragliding

In short: Dennis Pagen has written THE book on paragliding for beginners to intermediate pilots. This book covers it all. Clearly illustrated, easy to read. I use this book as a 'refresher' each season before I begin flying. He covers all the nuts and bolts of the various topics that make up paragliding, from how to hook your risers to your harness to how to ridge soar. I have read most of the books out there on paragliding, and this one covers more than all the others combined. If you are a serious paraglider pilot who wants a good manual for refreshing, or prospective pilot who wants to learn all you can before you begin lessons, this is THE book to buy.

A must read book for anyone who dream of flying

I am a hundred percent beginner in this awesome aero sport. I read this book several times before I went into the training hill. Because of my knowledge gathered from this book I can make my first flight and landing very enjoyable. My first and subsequent landing was a very smooth stand up and walked 2-3 steps forward that even my instructor was very surprised to see. This book was very easy to understand and really help boost my confidence level.

Hot and sweet!

I have a new favorite author. This book was really everything I like in a adult romance it had a hot alpha male, amazing sex scenes, and a sweet romance.

Rose was getting over a cheating ex-boyfriend and grieving the loss of her Grandmother while staying at her grandma's beach house. Rose meets the new hot guy next door and he changes everything for her.

Sam is one of Rose's long time friends best mate and he bought the house next to her grandma's. Sam had been vising and spending time with Rose's grandma before she had passed. Rose's grandma gave Sam some letters to pass along to Rose that might lead her to know who her father is. The string of events leads the two of them together into a amazing love story.

Sam is also holding on to a secret that threatens their relationship but it also keeps you turning the pages to try and figure out what is. There was so much I loved about the book their chemistry together, the story of her parents, Sam's secret, the relationship between her and her friends. My favorite part that really made me lol was the seagulls so funny. I am looking forward to reading more books by L.J. Dee. I have read two so far and loved them both.

Just purchased this book yesterday, and I could not put it down. I even took a half day at work because I wanted to keep reading. You are an absolute genius LJ DEE! ! I just finished Stranger and WOW!!!! I can't even choose a favorite because they are all so good!!! I just adore your writing!!! It's the perfect chemistry of love, suspense, heartbreak, jealousy, and of course my favorite - erotic scenes. Samuel Oscar Lawrence delicious, mmmHmmmm like chocolate cake. I have a new favorite Author, and she is so inspiring!!!

About the Author
César Perez Lopez is a Professor at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Madrid. César Perez Lopez is also a Mathematician and Economist at the National Statistics Institute (INE) in Madrid, a body which belongs to the Superior Systems and Information Technology Department of the Spanish Government. César also currently works at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in Madrid.

Nice book for Matlab Graphics

I was able to purchase a pdf file directly from the publisher. I spent some time going over the graphics commands in the book to create my own personal quick reference. I am happy that I was able to get the information that suited my needs. If you are looking for a book that teaches you to work with the wealth of graphics commands in Matlab, then this is one of these books. The author does a good job in covering the diverse two and three dimensional graphics commands using short examples that hit the point. You need not read the entire book to benefit from the coverage of graphics commands. Instead you can zoom in the sections that present the commands for the graphs you intend to draw. The author also includes the family of ez-commands (like ezplot, ezsurf, and ezcontour to name a few) that help you to quick draw curves, surfaces, and contours using equations instead of vectors of data points. He also lists summaries of the commands by categories. I found that to be very helpful. You can invoke the commands directly from the history window or you can place the commands in Matlab scripts and functions. I recommend this book for new Matlab programmers and users that want to draw nice looking graphs that can enhance their reports and presentations.
